SPO injured in encounter with militants in Doda

JAMMU, JUNE 12: A Special Police Officer was injured at Kota Top in Bhalesa (Gandoh) area of Doda district on Wednesday evening following an exchange of fire between militants between militants and a joint party of J&K Police and the security forces personnel.

Identifying the injured SPO as Fareed Ahmed, sources said that a team of Police and 4RR had launched a cordon and search operation in the area following Tuesday night’s militants attack on their joint naka in the picturesque Chattergala area of Bhaderwah. 

Five Army soldiers and an SPO were injured in the attack.

As the joint team approached towards the suspected spot at Kota Top, the hiding militants opened fire on them triggering a gun fight between two sides. The exchange of fire was in progress till reports last came in.

However, it was yet to be known whether the militants at Kota Top were the same group who attacked Army and police’s joint naka at Chattergala on Tuesday night,
