‘The Swachhata Samaagam celebration unfolded with an array of activities and programs, starting with a photo exhibition prominently featured the SBM-G assets, Nukkad Natak, Swachhata Pledge, Rashtriya Ekta Divas Pledge, and experiences of PRIs in the sanitation’.
Jammu: In a vibrant commemoration marking the 5th Union Territory Foundation Day, the Directorate of Rural Sanitation, Jammu and Kashmir orchestrated a grand event centered around the Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin (SBM-G) at International Border in Khour area of Jammu district, showcasing the journey of sustainable sanitation achievements in the rural J&K.
The celebration unfolded with an array of activities and programs, starting with a photo exhibition prominently featured the SBM-G assets, showcasing the infrastructure and initiatives taken under the mission, while illustrating the transformation of the sanitation landscape in J&K.
Integral to the event was the administration of the “Rashtriya Ekta Divas” pledge administrated by the Director Rural Sanitation, J&K Mr. Charandeep Singh that highlighted the cultural diversity, spirit of unity and progress, resonating with the essence of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir’s journey.
A contingent of army of the 64 Cavalry led by Sena Medal recipient Colonel Upendra Singh, members from Panchayat Raj Institutions (PRIs), volunteers, students and community members joined the “Swachhata Samaagam” reaffirming their commitment to the Swachh Bharat Mission’s objectives.
The event encapsulated the essence of progress, unity, and community engagement, celebrating the relentless efforts and achievements in the journey towards a cleaner and more hygienic Jammu and Kashmir.
While addressing the “Swachhata Samaagam” event as chief guest, the Director stressed the collective efforts by one and all to achieve the goals of the mission. He said that a saturation plan was prepared and shared with PRIs whose dedication, commitment, and uncompromised support helped to achieve the ODF Plus Model status under SBM-G on 15th of August. “We are proud to achieve this goal among leader states and UTs in the country, now it is our moral duty to sustain the goal for the betterment of our mother earth,” Director added.
Moreover, the event incorporated various cultural events including “Nukkad Natak”, where enthusiastic artists performed to highlight the various initiatives taken to ensure cleanliness and environmental sustainability under SBM-G.
The occasion served not only as a celebration but also as a platform to recognize the progress made in sustainable sanitation endeavors across rural Jammu and Kashmir. With the participation and support of local communities, the Directorate of Rural Sanitation successfully demonstrated the collective strides taken in ensuring a cleaner and healthier environment for all residents.
Sarpanch Panchayat Dhok Wazira, Sarpanch Pallanwala Lower, Sarpanch Flora Nagbani and other Panchayati members shared their SBM-G journey with the audience.
Awards and trophies were distributed among the meritorious PRI members, social activities, sanitation workers, Artists, students, and officials.
Deputy Director, Rural Sanitation, J&K Ms. Sanna Khan, ACP/ACD Jammu Preeti Sharma, DPO Jammu, BDO Khour, BDO Marh, BDO Mathwar, BDO Maira Mandarian, BDO Balwal, BDO Balwal Brahmana, BDO Nagrota, BDO Headquarter, BDO ACP Office and other official of the department participated in the event.
