Pakistan on the edge as Imran Khan appears in court to reply to corruption charges

ISLAMABAD, MAY 10: A day after his dramatic arrest leading to deadly clashes between his supporters and para military forces, Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday appeared in a court  to answer charges of corruption levelled against him.

The charges relate to sale of gifts sent to him by foreign leaders when he was in office.

Imran Khan was arrested on Tuesday in another corruption case, wherein is charged with the illegal acquisition of land and construction for a university.

However, his arrest has put Pakistan on the edge, with his his supporters hitting the streets and Venda losing the homes of army personnel.
