JAMMU, APRIL 9: One Pakistani intruder was killed and two others captured alive, one of them in an injured condition on Sunday, as Army troops foiled a major infiltration attempt from across the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s border Poonch district.
Giving details, Army PRO Lt Colonel Devender Anand said the alert Indian Army troops deployed in Poonch Sector observed a suspicious movement of a group of three individuals close to the Line of Control around 10.15 pm. Around midnight the group, crossed the Line of Control and started moving forward on the Indian side, he added.
The troops continued observing the movement of the group and when they reached near the barbed wire fence around 2 am, the firmer challenged them, making the infiltrators to run away.
However, the troops engaged them by opening fire killing one of the intruder, while others fled into the forests by taking advantage of the thick foliage and rocky outcrop. The area was immediately cordoned to prevent their escape across the Line of Control.
Searches were launched at the first light wherein the body of one intruder was recovered, Lt Colonel Devender Anand said.
As the searches progressed in the forests, one intruder was apprehended alive in wounded condition. Later, the third intruder was also apprehended alive.
During preliminary questioning the both the apprehended intruders claimed that all of them including the slain intruder are residents of Chanjal village’s Maidan Mohalla in Pakistan Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (POJK).
Three bags with 14 packets weighing nearly 17 kgs of narcotics, Pakistan currency, some documents, and eatables have been recovered from them so far. The searches in the forest area near the LoC are in progress, said an Army PRO Lt Colonel Devender Anand.
By their quick action, alert Indian Army troops have thus prevented a major infiltration bid, of a Narco terror group which had the potential of disturbing the peace in Poonch & Rajouri Districts through its nefarious designs, the Army PRO said. The Indian Army continues to remain alert on the Line of Control and is fully prepared to thwart any such attempts in the future too, he added.
