One killed, 6 injured in blast at a scrap godown in Bari Brahmana

JAMMU, MARCH 26: One person was killed and six others injured on Saturday in an explosion inside a scrap dealer’s godown at the industrial estate of Bari Brahmana near here in Jammu and Kashmir.

Identifying the deceased as Mohan Lal of Rajouri, police said that the injured included Parmanand of Uttarakhand, Veer Singh of UP, Kuldeep Raj and Kulwant, both Ramgarh, Soni Kumar of Ramnagar and Tej Ram of Bari Brahmana.

While the cause of explosion was yet to be ascertained, a senior police official said that one of the victims appear to have hammered an unexploded mortar shell that may have come to the scrap dealer along with other scrap.

However, the police have registered a case and started investigations .
