Newly inducted IPS officers from J&K get 2009, 2010 batch

JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 20: Twelve police officers from Jammu and Kashmir, who were inducted into Indian Police Service last year, have been allocated 2009 and 2010 IPS batch of AGMUT cadre.

Of them, five IPS officers who have been allotted 2009 batch include Shakti Kumar Pathak, Dr Mohammad Haseeb Mughal, Javid Ahmed Koul, Sheikh Junaid Mehmood and Shahid Mehraj Rather.

The remaining seven in the the 2010 batch are Dr Ajeet Singh, Altaf Ahmed Khan, Haseeb-ur-Rehman, Vikas Gupta, Abdul Qayoom , Nisha Nathyal and Javid Iqbal Matoo.

All these 12 police officers getting the 2009 and 2010 batch were due for induction into IPS in 2012 and 2013 respectively. In case of their induction on time, their year of allotment would have been 2008 and 2009 batch respectively.

However, they suffered a loss of one year as the Central government, which approved their induction into the IPS cadre only last year, had already changed rules regarding it in 2016, sources said.

Some of these officials have been posted as DIGs while others are still working as SSPs.

For the purposes of seniority, these 2009 batch IPS officers, according to a notification from Ministry of Home Affairs, will be placed below Rahul Malik, who is the junior most “direct recruit” IPS officer of that batch of Jammu and Kashmir segment of AGMUT cadre.

The other seven getting 2010 batch will be placed below Shridhar Patil Daulu, the junior most “direct recruit”IPS officer of that batch of Jammu and Kashmir segment of AGMUT cadre.

In July 2021, the Union Public Services Commission (UPSC) had inducted 28 JKPS officers into IPS. As 14 of them had retired from services, their posts were later declared as vacant.

Meanwhile, the Police Headquarters here have already sent a proposal for induction of 32 more Jammu Kashmir Police Service officers into IPS to the Home Department for approval. The proposal is now in advanced stage of being forwarded to the MHA and UPSC for their approval, sources said.

For this, all the 32 vacancies of IPS have been segregated between 2015-2020, sources said. The highest number of eight vacancies have been allocated for 2015 followed by seven to year 2018, five each to 2017 and 2019, four to the year 2016 and three to 2020.

This will be the first time that the J&K police has sent a proposal for induction of 32 JKPS officers into IPS in one go.
