JAMMU, JULY 26: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday arrested three inter-state drug peddlers and seized nearly 12 kg heroin along with nearly Rs 11 lakh cash from them in Narwal area of Jammu city.
Sources said that all the drug peddlers hailed from Amritsar district of Punjab and they were travelling in a Verna car at that time. Sources said the approximate cost of the seized narcotics is estimated to be Rs 50 crore in the international market.
Additional Director General of Police, Jammu, Mukesh Singh, identified the arrested peddlers as Sarvwan Singh S/O Kala Singh, Malkeet Singh S/O Gurmeet Singh and Balbir Singh S/O Balbinder Singh, all residents of Amritsar.
ADG Jammu said that Jammu police is working tirelessly to uproot the chain of drug supply in the region. Thorough questioning of the accused is going on to know the origin of the drugs taking into account both the forward as well as backward linkages, he added.
Pointing out that from the packing material of the drugs, it appears to have been dropped by drones, he said that further details will be available after detailed interrogation.
