Delta Force dedicate 100-ft high mast national flag to people in Kishtwar

JAMMU, JULY 14: General Officer Commanding of the Counter Insurgency Force (Delta), Major General Ajay Kumar, on Thursday dedicated a 100-ft high mast national flag to the people at Kishtwar’s Kuleed Chowk in Jammu and Kashmir.

The occasion marked the inaugural ceremony of the historic Kishtwar Cultural Festival. Seniir dignitaries from army and civil administration were also present there.

A huge audience specially local youth and students witnessed the memorable event full of patriotic fervor, according to a statement issued by the Jammu based Defence PRO Lt Colonel Devender Anand.

The project is the initiative of Indian Army, Rashtriya Rifles to instill pride in our Tiranga amongst the Awaam. The installation of the high mast was completed in a record time of 40 days and is one of its kind in the Jammu region.
Son of the Soil and Brave Heart Capt Tushar Mahajan Memorial Trust and Maj Akshay Girish Foundation played a pivotal role in the execution of the project. Public and Private companies, namely; NHIDCL, NHPC, Ratle Hydro Power Ltd, Patel Engineering, JayPee Constructions, AFCONs, Lokmanya Multipurpose Co-op Society Ltd, Belgaum, Mangal Das Trust, Gogte Infra, Hyloc Hydrotechnic Pvt Ltd extended their generous support for the noble initiative.

On the occasion, the religious heads of all communities also unveiled the newly constructed Memorial to honour all the brave hearts of Kishtwar who laid down their lives in the line of duty.

The GOC, during his address appreciated the efforts of  Shri Ashok Kumar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner & Shri Shafqat Hussain, SSP, Kishtwar, for fast-tracking necessary permissions and clearances for the project and all assistance provided to the Army. Awaam of Kishtwar thanked the District administration and Indian Army for gifting them a monument of National importance.

The event was graced by  Brigadier Pranab Misra, Commander, Sector Rashtriya Rifles,  Shri Ashok Kumar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar, Shri Shafqat Hussain, SSP and many other officials from Indian Army and civil administration.

The majestic Chowgan Ground of Kishtwar district will be highly active throughout the two-day Kishtwar Cultural Festival being organized by Indian Army with an aim of promoting goodwill and national integration and more importantly showcase local talent and cultural heritage of the region. A series of cultural events were organised on the ocassion, mesmerizing the audience with scintillating performances.
