Udhampur: As part of commemoration of 75 years of India’s Independence Day, “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”, NCC cadets of 2 J&K NCC Girls battalion under the aegis of DG NCC and Ministry of Defence undertook responsibility to maintain and upkeep statues of bravehearts. Cadets and Staff of the battalion adopted Statue of Captain Tushar Mahajan, Shaurya Chakra at Udhampur for cleaning and maintenance.
NCC has taken the initiative of cleaning statues by adopting 2187 statues across the length & breadth of the country. Such activities would definitely instill sense of pride towards sense of pride towards our bravehearts and feeling of social responsibilities as citizens of the great nation.
The statue of Captain Tushar Mahajan, Shaurya Chakra, 9 PARA SF, located at Udhampur cleaned on 08 July 2022. He had laid down his life fighting terrorists on 21 Feb 2016 at Pampore. NCC cadets of Government Degree College for Women, Udhampur under the aegis of 2 J&K Girls Battalion NCC cleaned the statue and paid homage to Captain Tushar Mahajan, who has been an inspiration for the youth, being son of the soil.
An elaborate wreath laying ceremony was also held wherein distinguished civil and military dignitaries attended and laid the wreaths. In addition to Mr & Mrs Dev Raj Gupta, parents of Captain Tushar Mahajan, the other dignitaries who attended the even included Brig Vikram Raina, Group Commander, NCC Group HQ, Jammu and Prof. Monika Sharma Principal, Government Degree College for Women, Udhampur.
Brig Vikram Raina Group Commander NCC Group HQ, urged the Cadets to take inspiration from such gallant heroes and always put in their level best to excel in every field.
