Rubiya Sayeed Kidnap Case was a well scripted ploy: BJP leader Brig Gupta

JAMMU, MARCH 29: The Jammu and Kashmir BJP spokesperson Brig (Retd) Anil Gupta on Tuesday said that the 1989 Rubiya Sayeed kidnapping that led to the release of some jailed militants and the genocide and migration of Kashmiri Hindus from their native places in later years were part of a well scripted ploy by those forces whose singular aim was to launch religious jihad in the Valley.

Responding to the ongoing debate on the role played by a few important individuals and certain landmark events that led to the genocide of Kashmiri Hindus as shown in the movie “Kashmir Files”, Brig Anil Gupta (retd) the script began to unfold in the summer of 1931 with none other than the Sheikh Abdullah as the major player who founded Muslim Reading Room Group with a minor role being played by Abdul Qadir whose fiery speech against the Hindu Maharaja in an event organised by the former under the banner of the Muslim Reading Room Group sowed the seeds of communal hatred between the Hindus and Muslims.

Sheikh wanted to rule a Muslim Kashmir and hence launched the Quit Kashmir movement which was ostensibly a warning for the Hindus to quit Kashmir, the BJP

leader said. While leading the Quit Kashmir movement he minced no words while demeaning the Hindus and exhorted the Kashmiri Muslims to rise against the “tyranny of the Dogras,” he added.

Pointing out that the script continued to unfold with a change in players over the time, he said it’s focus though remained unchanged. The control was gradually wrested by the inimical religious zealots across the fence who kept choosing the enactors to suit their designs, he said.

With the jihadis succeeding to overthrow the mighty Soviets from Afghanistan their renewed focus once again shifted towards the Valley in the 80s, stated Brig Gupta. What has been shown in Kashmir Files is no fiction but just a part of the tragic events, he added.

The BJP leader said that Rubiya Sayeed kidnap case was a part of the same script aimed at strengthening the hands of the jihadis to fulfil the cherished dream of a monolith Kashmir.

Did Dr Farooq Abdullah who now claims to have opposed the release of the terrorists not know that Rubiya was kept by the kidnappers in a luxurious house in Srinagar itself, he asked. Most of the Kashmiris with their ears to the ground knew and murmured that “kidnapping” was a drama and she was shifted to a house called Girdhar Niwas, owned by a Kashmiri Hindu family earlier, and later sold to the then Chairman of J&K Bank in early 80s.

The house is located on the track that connects Brain and Nishat Power House. Incidentally, a few distance away is located the infamous hut where Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee was kept under house arrest and became victim of the same ploy leading to first political murder of independent India during the regime of Sheikh Abdullah, stated Brig Gupta.

“Thus, both Mufti Mohd Sayeed and Dr Farooq Abdullah were enacting their scripted roles for achieving the ultimate aim. What happened thereafter and the mayhem that led to the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus is well known,” Brig Gupta said and cautioned the Gupkaris that by trying to change the narrative by bringing in extraneous issues, they are further alienating the people of India who are shell-shocked after learning the truth.
