ARMY ORGANISED MEGA CULTURAL SHOW – ‘EK SHAAM POONCH KE AWAAM KE NAAM’

Jammu: As an endeavour to outreach to the Awaam of border areas of Poonch district, Indian Army organised a cultural mega show called ‘Ek Shaam Poonch ke Awaam ke Naam’ on 12 Dec 2021 at Gulpur, district Poonch (J&K).

The aim of the event was to provide the local population an opportunity to move out of their daily routine and enjoy the day with their family and friends and reap the benefits of peace in the area.

The event included multiple activities such as inter Panchayat Tug-of-War (Rassa Kassi) competition, individual native games of Gatti and Budar and various entertaining games for children and ladies along with medical and veterinary camp.

For all visitors, various food stalls were also placed along with light lunch provided by Indian Army. The event started with paying tribute to Late General Bipin Rawat and ten other members of Indian Armed Forces family whom we lost on 08 Dec 2021 in helicopter crash.

The highlight of the event was the vibrant cultural programme ‘Mauseeqi’ in which performances in folk languages to include Gojri, Pahadi and Punjabi languages were rendered.

The performance by local troupe was mesmerizing and thoroughly enjoyed by Awaam. The successful conduct of the mega cultural event, the first of its kind since Independence is one of the dividends of prevalent peace and harmony in Poonch district and demonstrates Indian Army’s resolve to outreach Awaam of remote areas and to bring positive changes in their life.

The overwhelming response from local populace further firms in the bonding between Awaam and Indian Army.
