JAMMU, NOVEMBER 29: The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Monday accorded sanction to the renewal of Group Personal Accidental Insurance Policy with M/s Oriental Insurance Company Ltd covering an over 3.50 lakh gazetted and non-gazetted employees working in the UT administration and other undertakings.
The policy will also cover employees of UT’s public sector undertakings, Autonomous Bodies, Local Bodies, Universities, Daily Rated Workers; besides Consolidated/Contractual/Contingent Paid Workers/Adhoc employees and Special Police Officers.
For this, it accorded sanction for advance drawl of Rs 12,10,09,000 by the Director Resources, Finance Department, for its subsequent release to M/s Oriental Insurance Company Ltd as premium for the accidental insurance policy covering 3.50 lakh employee for a period of one year from the date of payment of premium. The excess/shortage of premium paid to the Insurance Company shall be adjusted in the month of July 2022 after receiving consolidated details of total number of employees who have contributed the premium towards the instant policy from Director General Accounts and Treasuries, J&K, read an order issued by Additional Chief Secretary Finance Atal Dulloo.
Pointing out that the sum assured under the policy shall be Rs 10 lakh per employee against the payment of an yearly premium of Rs 346, a government order dated November 29 said that all the drawing and disbursing officers of the government shall deduct the premium amount from the December 2021 salary of all these category of employees on compulsory basis and credit the same to the Major Head: 8235 – General and Other Reserve Fund and Minor Head 105 – General Insurance Fund (Janata Insurance).
Similarly, DDOs of PSUs, autonomous bodies, local bodies and universities shall remit the amount of Rs 346 through challan against aforementioned Major Head in government treasuries in respect to their employees for being covered under the scheme on or before January 15, 2022 positively and furnish copy of the challan bearing TR Number and date along with the list of employees to the Nodal Officer, Group Personal Accidental Insurance Policy, Finance Department, Civil Secretariat, J&K at Jammu/Srinagar immediately.
However, wherever due to any administrative or financial problem, DDO could not deduct the premium of his employees from their December 2021 salary, he shall immediately deposit/remit the prescribed premium against the proper Head of the Account in the concerned Treasury through challan after collecting after collecting the premium from left out employees to bring them under the insurance coverage. It shall be the responsibility of the concerned DDO not to leave out any employee without deduction of prescribed premium for coverage of the Accidental Insurance Policy, said an order issued by Additional Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo.
