PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti placed under house arrest in Srinagar

SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 18: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti was on Thursday  placed under house arrest at her residence in Srinagar.

Mehbooba Mufti had returned to Srinagar yesterday after the completion of her five-day tour of Jammu division. She had led a demonstration  in Jammu yesterday against alleged civilian killings in the Hyderpora encounter.

Sources said that PDP’s chief spokesperson Syed Suhail Bukhari and spokesperson Najmu Saqib were also detained.

“Again under house arrest & PDPs @SAAQQIIB & @Suhail_Bukhari too have been arrested,” Mehbooba Mufti wrote on her Twitter handle.

“The pattern of using innocent civilians as human shields & then denying their families the right to a decent burial shows that GOI has plumbed new depths of inhumanity,” she added.
