CBI books Grameen Bank official among 2 in Kathua; arrest 1 for accepting bribe

JAMMU, OCTOBER 18: The Central Bureau of Investigation on Monday arrested a private person on the allegations of demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 20,000 from a civilian on behalf of the Branch Head of the J&K Grameen Bank in Kathua district. 

CBI had registered case against the Head of the Parliwand Branch of Grameen Bank, Sanjay Kumar Sharma, following a complaint by one Mahesh Kumar Sharma who alleged that the former has demanded bribe of Rs 50,000 from him for sanctioning a housing loan of Rs 20 lakh in favour of his father. The bribe, he alleged, was demanded through through a private person Jatinder Kumar, officials said.

CBI laid a trap and caught Jatinder Kumar while accepting Rs.20,000 as part payment of bribe, officials said. Searches are being conducted at the premises of both the accused at Kathua, they said, adding that Sanjay Kumar has not been arrested so far.
