LeT operative held in connection with arms dropping near Jammu

JAMMU, OCTOBER 12: The Jammu and Kashmir Police, in a major breakthrough into recent incident of weapons dropping by Pakistani drone in Mandal Phalian area near here, have arrested a Lashkar-e-Toiba operative hailing from Kashmir.

Identifying him as Irfan Ahmead Bhat, son of Farooq Ahmead Bhat of Verinag in Anantnag district, Additional Director General of Police for Jammu, Mukesh Singh, said that during preliminary questioning, he has confessed that he was in touch with handlers across the border and that he is associated with Lashkar-e-Toiba.

He had come here to receive  the consignment which already stands seized by the police, he said.

The police had seized a packet dropped by a drone from Pakistan side in Mandal Phallian area near here on the intervening night of October 1-2 last. The packet when opened was found containing an AK rifle along with three magazines and 30 rounds, besides one Optical sight. Accordingly, an FIR No. 230/21 under sections 120-B IPC, 7/25 Arms Act and 13,16,18,23 ULAP already was registered on October 2 last at Satwari police station in this matter.
