Five people from J&K arrested in Kerala for having guns without valid license

Kerala: Five men from Jammu and Kashmir’s border Rajouri district, who were working as security guards with a private cash logistics firm in Thiruvananthapuram, have been arrested by Kerala Police for possessing guns without any valid license.

Five double barrel guns and 25 rounds of ammunition have been seized from them. They have been identifiedas Mushtaq Hussain, Mohammad Javed, Gulsaman, Shukoor Ahmed and Shoukat Ali.

They were reportedly brought to the city between six months to one year through a Maharashtra based recruiting agency, sources said.

Following anonymous complaint that these people had declined to surrender their guns during assembly elections, police had initially conducted investigations about them, contacting even the Rajouri’s Additional District Magistrate and SHO of Kandi Police Station seeking information about them and their arms licenses.

They were arrested following report from Rajouri Additional District Magistrate that the men did not possess valid license.
