Will jointly work with urban local bodies’ representatives to fill the vacuum of opposition in J&K: Anil Sharma
Jammu: Concerned over the insensitivity of the government towards genuine issues of common masses, All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference (AJKPC)–a frontline registered body of PRI members, and the elected representatives of urban local bodies on Thursday jointly announced to play the role of an effective opposition to become the voice of people in Jammu and Kashmir.
An announcement in this regard was made by the UT President of AJKPC, Anil Sharma while addressing a day-long joint convention of Panches, Sarpanches, BDCs, DDCs and representatives of urban local bodies here.
“The government machinery has turned insensitive towards the genuine and day-to-day issues of common masses who have been suffering badly due to criminal silence of opposition parties.
Opposition parties have miserably failed to raise the issue of common masses. There is a need for every elected representative of rural and urban local bodies to come on forefront and become the voice of people against this anarchy,” Sharma said.
He said the AJKPC has decided to work with the representatives of urban local bodies to vociferously raise the issues of the people.
“Till now, our role was confined to rural pockets of Jammu and Kashmir only but it has become imperative on the part of AJKPC to spread its base in urban areas where the people are also facing the same difficulties and hardships as being faced by the people of rural areas of UT,” Sharma said.
He said the elected representatives of urban local bodies have voluntarily come forward to join the banner of AJKPC in their mission of lessening the sufferings of the people.
The AJKPC leader also declared that Panches, Sarpanches and BDCs in coordination with the representatives of urban local bodies would launch a decisive battle against the mining mafia in the days to come.
“The people have been suffering badly due to highly inflated rates of construction material including gravel, sand etc. The mining mafia has been ruling the roost due to the active connivance of officers in the mining department.
The AJKPC and the urban local bodies’ representatives would work jointly against the mining mafia so that the people are provided some relief,” Sharma said.
The AJKPC leader also voiced his concern against the threat perception to the elected representatives of rural and urban local bodies and urged the UT administration to immediately clear the pending files where all such representatives have sought foolproof security cover for them.
“We appeal to the Home Secretary, Shaleen Kabra, that he should pass immediate direction to the Security Wing (SHQ) of J&K Police for immediate clearance of files moved by grassroots level representatives seeking security cover,” he said.
Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion were Ram Saroop Sharma, Jatinder Singh, Des Raj Bhagat, Parveen Sharma, Shamim Akhtar, Anwar Choudhary, Amjad Khan, Abhay Khajuria, Ashok Kumar, Rattan Lal, Tarlochan Dutt, Rohit Sharma, Balbir Singh, Vijay Kumar, Balwant Raj Sharma, Mohammad Amin Bhat, Farooq Ahmad, S.
