In its drive against drug peddling, police have arrested 18 peddlers, lodged 13 FIRs in Poonch during past one month
Poonch: Jammu Kashmir Police on Tuesday arrested two drug paddlers in border Poonch district and seized some narcotic like substance from them.
District SSP Dr. Vinod Kunar said the accused were apprehended by a joint naka party of police and security forces at Basooni after hit chase after they did not stop their vehicle despite being signalled to do so. They hailed from Jammu city.
The Poonch police here in the district have launched a major drive against drugs peddling arresting 18 people involved in the crime booking them in 13 separate cases in the district in past one month.
Senior Superintendent of Police Poonch, Dr. Vinod Kumar said that action against people involved in the crime of drugs peddling is top priority for Poonch police.
SSP Poonch said that a total of 18 people involved in the crime have been arrested in past one month since 8th May.
” We have registered 13 FIRs in police stations Surankote, Mendhar, Poonch, Gursai.” SSP Poonch Dr. Vinod Kumar.
He further informed that recovery of narcotics has been made from the accused with further investigation of forward and backward linkages are going on.
SSP Poonch further said that civil society has a pivotal role in this fight against drugs addiction in society and appealed civil society to share information of people involved in this crime directly with his nearest police establishment and their identity will be kept confidential.
