Jammu: “Swarnim Vijay Varsh” is being celebrated to commemorate 50 years of India stellar victory over Pakistan in 1971 war. In order to pay homage to Indian Army war veterans, Martyrs and also to those who fought alongside Indian Army in 1971, a Victory Flame is being carried in all cardinal directions pan Indian. Victory Flame is currently in the area of Counter Insurgency Force wherein it was received at Muradpur Bridge by Commanding Officer, Rashtriya Rifles Battalion at Samote in District Rajouri (J&K).
The Swarnim Vijay Mashal made its journey through Mandir Gala, Kandi and Kotranka to Samote. The Victory Flame was welcomed by the children enroute. As an epilogue to this mega celebratory event, Victory Flame was received in the War Memorial at Samote where wreath laying was laid as a tribute to the gallant soldiers of Indian Army who made supreme sacrifice serving the nation in historic War of 1971. Wreath laying ceremony was conducted paying homage martyrs of 1971 War.
