CBI arrest 4 FCI officials in MP on corruption charge

Recovers cash worth Rs 3 crore, besides gold and silver jewellery during searches on the premises

Bhopal: Central Bureau of Investigation on Saturday arrested four officials of the Food Corporation of India and recovered cash about Rs 3.01 crore, beside gold and silver jewellery during searches on the premises.

Pointing out that the gold jewellery weighed an over 1 kg, officials said the arrests have been made in a bribery case of Rs one lakh. The arrested officials include Divisional Manager Harish Hinonia, Manager (Accounts) Arun Shrivastava, Manager (Security) Mohan Parate and Assistant (Grade-I) Kishore Meena.

The seized cash was allegedly kept in different envelopes, some of the bundles marked / written with names of the parties, dates and amounts.  Some cash amount was allegedly found in heavy safety vault / chest which was concealed in the wooden almirah, officials said, adding that a diary was found containing the detailed record of the cash amounts obtained such as date, name of party, amount and also a note counting Machine.

On complaint by a company, a case was registered against Manager (Accounts), FCI, Divisional Office, Bhopal(Madhya Pradesh) on the allegations of demanding bribe of Rs. 1,50,000/- for releasing its pending bills.
