Jammu: Senior BJP and Kashmiri Pandit leader Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo on Thursday asked Pakistan to prove its intent by its “expressed actions on ground’’, addubg that “mere statements won’t work’’ as its past record and last four decades of insurgency does not substantiate its claims about peaceful co-existence with neighbours.
Chrungoo who also heads the BJP’s Department of Political Affairs & Feedback in Jammu and Kashmir was reacting to a recent statement by Pakistan Army chief, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, that India and Pakistan must resolve the Jammu and Kashmir issue in a “dignified and peaceful manner”. “Pakistan is a peace-loving country and committed to peaceful co-existence in the region,’’ Bajwa had said, adding “we stand firmly committed to the ideal of mutual respect and peaceful co-existence. It is time to extend hand of peace in all directions’’.
Such statements by Pakistan are strictly determined by our doctrine on the issue that “terror and talks won’t go together’’. There is absolutely no change in this doctrine nor should anyone expect any change in it in future without a tangible reason, he said.
Its desire that both the countries must resolve the “longstanding issue of Jammu and Kashmir” in a dignified and peaceful manner and bring this human tragedy to its logical conclusion should be followed by Pakistan’s actions including dismantling terror infrastructure on the land under its control,” he added.
India is committed to liberate the Pakistan occupied areas of Jammu and Kashmir & Ladakh and in this particular context, India would always like to do that by peaceful means including a dialogue with Pakistan, he said, adding that to make it a reality, Pakistan will have to put a stop to the cross border terrorism and bloodshed in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The BJP leader further added, “the Indians will together defeat the anti-national and anti-social designs of traitors within and outside who are bent upon damaging the country’s advance march in all spheres of life under the able leadership of PM Narendra Modi. The international agent provoke-tiers can’t be permitted to misuse the banner of Kisan agitation, and the leaders of the political parties need to be very cautious about the whole issue.”
He hailed the statement of Ghulam Nabi Azad, Leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha that violence, anarchy and insult to the national flag on Red Fort on January 26 this year aren’t acceptable in any case. His statement on Jammu and Kashmir pleading for recovery in the tourism sector is also appreciating, he added.
However, it needs to be made clear that ever since August 5, 2019, the UT of Jammu and Kashmir has seen a peaceful environment due to which the DDC elections had become a possibility, the BJP leader said. The government stands committed to development and elimination of terrorism in the UT and the government’s intent of job creation in the UT has also been converted into a reality, he added.
