Jammu, December 1: A total of 65.54 per cent of the nearly seven lakh electorate exercised their right to franchise during the second phase of District Development Council elections in Jammu division on Tuesday as people in large numbers, undeterred by Pakistani mortar shelling and small arms fire which has been taking place almost daily along the borders in Jammu and Kashmir ever since the abrogation of Article 370 last year, turned up at polling stations even in areas along the Line of Control.
However, Kashmir recorded 33.34 per cent polling, with lowest 8.67 per cent in Pulwama. The highest 69.66 per cent polling percentage in Kashmir was recorded in Bandipora.
In Jammu, the highest 75.07 per cent polling was recorded in Poonch district.
