Jammu, October 30: A local molvi was among two people arrested by Jammu and Kashmir Police for allegedly preparing a fake nikahnama faciliating father of three minor children get relief from court in a case registered at Nagrota police station in connection with alleged abduction of a woman.
Giving details, police said that one Parveen Akhter had on February 21 this year lodged a written complaint at Nagrota police station that her husband Gafoor Khan of Shibba had contracted second marriage with one Ulfat Kosser without her consent and knowledge. Pointing out that Ulfat was already married to Anwar Khan of the same area, she complained that her husband had hatched a conspiracy with Molvi Mohammad Hussain alias Bittu of Sandhi Kanna Chargal to prepare a fake nikahnama. Accordingly a case was registered at the police station.
During investigation, it was found that there was already an FIR registered against Gafoor Khan, who was already married to Parveen Akhtar and had three children from her, in connection with the abduction of Ulfat Kosser following complaint by her husband Anwar Khan.
However, Gafoor and Ulfat had produced the “fake’’ nikahnama date February 20, 2019 before Jammu and Kashmir High Court to get its protection from apprehension by police. However, the register in which details of the nikahnama were entered was issued to the molvi by Administrator Auqaf, Jammu, on May 1, 2019, police said, adding the molvi had prepared nikahnama in back date to give undue benefit to the accused.
While molvi Mohammad Hussain and Gafoor Khan were arrested, some more arrests were likely in the matter as investigations were in progress, police said.
