Jammu/Srinagar: Indian and Pakistani armies on Thursday exchanged sweets at various places along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to White Knight Corps, sweets were exchanged at Poonch-Rawalakot and Mendhar-Hot Spring check posts.
In Kashmir Division, the tradition of exchanging sweets between India and Pakistan on major festivals like Eid, Holi, Diwali and respective National days was revived as armies of both the countries held meetings at the Tithwal crossing on Kishanganga River in Tangdhar, Kupwara and Kaman Aman Setu in Uri to exchange sweets and pleasantries.
The newly achieved calm along the Line of Control as a result of renewed ceasefire has brought warmth, which has been displayed on several occasions between the two neighbours. Exchange of inadvertently crossed over youths on three occasions in the last two months at the zero line in Tithwal bode well for the future.
The exchange of sweets and pleasantries was conducted with full adherence to all COVID Protocols by both sides.
Today’s was a peaceful Eid along the LoC after both the armies in February this year agreed to hold ceasefire along the LoC.
Meanwhile, in view of continued spike in COVID-19 cases, Eid celebrations in Jammu and Kashmir remained a low key affair across Jammu and Kashmir.
Observing COVID protocol, people at most places offered prayers at their houses and remained indoors.
