J&K Govt appoints three new members to PSC

JAMMU JUNE 14: The Jammu and Kashmir’s Lt Governor Manoj SInha Government has appointed three members to the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission.

According to a notification issued by Commissioner-Secretary GAD, Sanjeev Verma, the new members to the PSC include Rajiv Singh, Professor and Head of Veterinary Medicine in the Faculty of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry, SKUAST-Jammu; Tariq Ahmad Zargar, Secretary in the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj; and Yashpal Kotwal, retired Principal District Judge, Samba.

Following the expiry in term of its chairman and all the members from January 2022 to December 2023, the Commission had virtually become defunct.

The Lt Governor has in February this year appointed a A K Choudhary, a 1991 batch IPS officer, as its new chairperson.

Now, with the appointment of three members to it, the Public Service Commission has become operational, sources said.
