Govt decides to appoint on contract retired docs below 70 yrs for Covid duties

Asks those willing to join their respective institutions to report to their concerned head of institution/department within a week

Jammu: In view of the surge in Covid-19 cases across the Union Territory, the Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to appoint on contract basis all those faculty members who have retired from Government Medical Colleges at Jammu and in Srinagar, besides SKIMS Soura and who are within 70 years of age as on June 1, 2021.

Such faculty members who are willing to join their respective parent insitutions for deployment for Covid duty shall join before the principals of Government Medical Colleges Jammu/Srinagar, or Director SIKMS SOURA/Bemina as the case may be, read an order issued by Financial Commissioner Health and Medical Education Atal Dulloo.

Similarly contractual appointment of doctors (medical officers/consultants and senior consultants) who have retired from Health Services Departments and are within 70 years of age as on June 1, 2021, and are willing to join Health Services Department Jammu/Srinagar for Covid duty as per requirement to be worked out by respective Directors, shall join before them as the case may be.

The salary of the contractural appointees in both the cases shall be their last salary drawn minus pension and commuted portion of pension.

These engagements shall be for a period of one year or till further orders, which ever is earlier, the order read, adding that the posts for these engagements shall be deemed to have been created.

It asked the willing faculty members to immediately join before the concerned head of the institutions/departments preferably within a period of seven days from the date of issuance of this order.
