Docs looking for blood donors as injured Pak intruder needs ‘major’ surgery

JAMMU, APRIL 13: Doctors at Government Medical College Hospital at Rajouri have started looking for the A –ve blood for one of the two Pakistani intruders who was captured in an injured condition by the Army troops from forests near the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s border Poonch district on the intervening night of April 8-9.

Identified as Mohammad Tariq, 23, Dr Mehmood Hussain Bajar said the injured had fractures in his both legs with open wounds caused by bullet shots. “We are arranging blood for his surgery,’’ he added.

Meanwhile, sources said that the injured was stable and the hospital authorities have appealed the donors with A –ve blood group to come forward and donate blood on humanitarian grounds. The hospital needs 3-5 units of A –ve blood for the surgery, they said, adding that the hospital administration has contacted some NGOs also for the purpose.

Tariq along with Mohammad Shakeel, 32, of Chanjal in Pakistan occupied Jammu Kashmir (PoJK), was apprehended from forests near the LoC in Shahpur area of Poonch on Sunday morning. They had crossed the LoC from PoJK side and entered Poonch in a group of three on the intervening night of April 8-9. 

Their third accomplice, Mohammad Sharief Kohli, 42, was killed as Army troops opened fire when they, on being challenged by the troops, started running towards the forests. During searches on Sunday morning, the troops seized  17 kgs of narcotics along with some documents and eatables from near the body of the deceased and later captured the other two intruders with the help of CCTV cameras from the forests.
