Only 50 per cent of the shops in bazaars, market complexes, malls to open on alternate basis through rotation
Jammu: As part of COVID control measures, the Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday extended the night curfew to all the municipal/urban local bodies across Jammu and Kashmir.
“As new COVID control measures, the Corona curfew at night shall be extended to all municipal/urban klocal bodies of all 20 districts of Jammu and Kashmir,’’ a tweet from the office of Lt Governor Manoj Sinha said. “It was already in force in eight districts earlier from 10 pm to 6 am,’’ it added.
Apart from this, it also decided that only 50 per cent shops in market complexes, bazaars and malls within the municipal limits/urban local body limits shall open on alternate basis through rotation.
To implement this, District Magistrates of all districts shall devise a mechanism preferably in consultation with local market associations, said another tweet from LG’s office.
It also decided to allow public transport including mini buses, matadors, buses etc ply at 50 per cent of their authorized seating capacity from Wednesday. District SPs shall ensure its compliance.
Meanwhile, Jammu Deputy Commissioner Anshul Garg declared three new localities in Jammu as micro containment zones. They included area from Adarsh Enclave to Parveen Colony in Trikuta Nagar involving nearly 450 households, area in and around Sai Mandir, Talab Tillo having nearly 1,000 house holds and Lower Barnia with nearly 700 house holds.
President Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry Arun Gupta announced that all business establishments in Jammu will remain closed on Sunday.
During the past over a week, there has been a sharp increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in the UT. Only Monday, UT reported 1,516 COVID-19 cases including 768 from Jammu.
