UDHAMPUR, SEPTEMBER 29: Two people including conductor of a bus were injured as two explosions rocked Udhampur town of Jammu and Kashmir since Wednesday night.

The explosions, which came ahead of the upcoming visit of Home Minister Amit Shah to the UT next month, took place in the town after nearly six months. Earlier, one person was killed and over a dozen others injured in an explosion caused by a sticky bomb in Slathia Chowk in March this year.

The Home Minister, however, during his stay in the UT will be visiting the holy shrine of Mata Vaishnodevi to pay obeisance, besides holding public rallies in Rajouri and Baramulla districts. He will also be reviewing the law and order situation Jammu and Kashmir.

Giving details, sources said that the first blast took place around 10.30 pm on Wednesday night in a bus parked at Domail Chiwk near a petrol pump in  Udhampur injuring its conductor Sunil Singh, 27, of Pringka Ramnagar and his friend Vijay Kumar, 40, of Jaganoo. Both were sitting inside the driver’s cabin at that time.

The bus bearing registration number JK-14D-6857 is parked in Domail Chowk after its daily sortie on Udhampur-Ramnagar-Basantgarh route.

Sources quoting the injured bus conductor said that two unidentified persons had loaded some items including a mattress on the roof of the bus for their transportation to Ramnagar in the morning. However, nearly three hours after they left, explosion took place.

Senior police officers along with police teams immediately reached the spot and cordoned off the area. However, while they were trying to find leads in the matter, another blast took place around 5 am in another bus parked at Udhampur bus stand. However, no one was injured in the second explosion.
