JAMMU, JULY 26: J&K Apni Party’s Youth Wing Vice President Raqeeq Ahmed Khan on Tuesday accused authorities at the Jammu campus of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of discriminating with Pahari speaking people of the Union Territory by not providing them reservation during recruitment to vacancies advertised by it.

Addressing a press conference at the party office here, he said that Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu has advertised 50 posts of non-teaching vacant posts for their recruitment. However, there is no mention of reservation for the Pahari speaking people, he added.

Raqeeq Ahmed Khan was accompanied by State Coordinator Youth Wing Sunny Kant Chib, Provincial President Student Wing Apni Party, Anuj Manhas and District President Jammu Youth Shivam Choudhary.

The Pahari speaking people government has given 4 per cent to Pahari speaking people, he pointed out, demanding action against the officials responsible for denying them this constitutional right.

Without naming BJP, he said that a political party had raised the Pahari issue and extended its support to them. But on the ground, they have misled the huge population and deprived them of their constitutionally granted right of reservation quota in recruitments. He said that the Apni Party will not tolerate discrimination with Pahari Speaking People.

Apni Party State Coordinator Sunny Kant Chib raised the issue of irregularities in recruitments to government departments. The youth wait for the recruitment in government departments and when the process gets completed, they are informed about irregularities in the recruitment process leading to cancellation of the entire process.

“It has given rise to the depression and psychological issues among the educated youth who appeared in different recruitment processes but could not find their place in the final list due to scams in the entire process of recruitment,” he said. He said that the administration should not force people to come on the roads if the accused persons in the recruitment scams are not brought to book.

Meanwhile, Provincial President Student Wing Apni Party, Anuj Manhas demanded that the recruitment agency should be changed and those associated with it from the last many years should be replaced with immediate effect to bring transparency and restore confidence of the educated youth.

“The youth who appear for different posts in various Govt departments have lost their faith in the recruitment agency. Hence, the immediate action is to restore the confidence of the people preparing for the recruitment exams,” he said.

Whereas, District President Jammu Youth Shivam Choudhary also expressed deep concern over the growing unemployment and failure of the administration to curb the corrupt practices due to which repeated scams have been surfacing.

“The youth were expecting a transparent recruitment process but the people with money and influence are getting their children employed in Govt service in absence of accountability at the hands of the Govt. The bureaucracy has misused the authority and played with the future of the students,” he added.
