JAMMU, JULY 18: An Army Captain and a Naib Subedar were killed in accidental grenade blast along the Line of Control in Mendhar sector of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday night.
The deceased have been identified as Captain Anand and Naib Subedar Bhagwan Singh. A Court of Inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
Meanwhile, Defence PRO Lt Colonel Devender Anand here said that the Army Officer and the JCO along with other troops were performing their duties along the LoC at that time. They were immediately evacuated by helicopter to the Army’s Command Hospital at Udhampur, but they succumbed to injuries during treatment, he added.
General Officer Commanding and all ranks of the White Knight Corps salute the brave hearts who made the supreme sacrifice while performing their duties in Mendhar sector along the LoC. They also paid their condolences to the bereaved family members.
