Srinagar: Two top commanders of The Resistance Front, an off-shoot of Lashkar-e-Toiba, were on Monday killed by Jammu and Kashmir Police in an encounter in Srinagar.
Identifying the slain terrorists as Mohammad Abbas Sheikh, top commander of TRF and his deputy Saqib Manzoor, Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, described their killing a big success.
Both Mohammad Abbas Sheikh and Saqib Manzoor were among the wanted militants whose list was circulated by police this year.
A resident of South Kashmir’s Rampur village in Kulgam district, Mohammad Abbas, 45, was one of the oldest militants and had recycled into militancy twice.
Previously associated with Hizbul Mujahideen, sources said that Sheikh was part of TRF. He had escaped many times after breaking the cordon during the last six year.
Saqib was a resident of Srinagar, sources said.
