Jammu, December 13: IkkJutt Jammu, an extreme right wing organization, here on Sunday alleged that its chairman Ankur Sharma was not allowed to visit Kishtwar to campaign for 7th and 8th phase of District Development Council elections being held on December 16 and 19.

Pointing out that the party chairman had planned to hold meetings with workers and intellectuals over the next two days in the district beginning Sunday, it said the Kishtwar district administration informed him at the last minute that he cannot enter Kishtwar.

Ankur Sharma said that since he was a Y category protectee, he had to inform about his tour programme to the security wing of UT police in advance. As the latter came to know about his tour programme to Kishtwar last evening, the Kishtwar district administration started advising him against visiting the district. “Kishtwar SSP Dr Harmeet Singh told me that they cannot allow me to enter the district as situation there was already volatile and his arrival there may make it go out of control disturbing the situation across the UT,’’ Sharma said, adding he decided not to create a scene in view of the polling taking place for VIth phase of DDC elections during the day.

When asked whether IkkJutt Jammu chairman was asked not to visit Kishtwar, SSP Dr Harmeet Singh said that “I will have to check it’’. He, however, admitted having talked to Ankur Sharma over his matter, adding that “situation always remains volatile in Kishtwar’’.

Meanwhile, IkkJutt Jammu workers protested against the move at various places like Akhnoor, Jammu, Kathua, Chadwal etc.
