J&K Police deploy 960 freshly pass-out cops on anti-terror duties in border areas of UT

JAMMU, JULY 3: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday deployed 960 freshly pass-out constables exclusively for anti-infiltration and anti-terror duties in border areas of the Union Territory.

“We have today deployed 960 fresh pass out jawans from the Jammu and Kashmir police Training Academy in border areas,” disclosed Director General of Police, R. R. Swain, here on Wednesday evening.

“They are very young and hail from border villages. Their recruitment also was area specific and done with the condition that they will be border areas,” he said. Nearly 560 of them have been deployed in border areas of Jammu and the remaining in Kashmir, he added.

“They will work only in anti-infiltration and anti-terrorism” operations, J&K police chief said, adding that they will not work as PSOs or do any other duty or work 

“There are strict restricts on their supervisory officials that they shall not shift them anywhere else,” he said, adding that they will deploy them only for anti-infiltration and anti-terror work so that the feral area security gets enhanced making it difficult for the adversary to i filtrate and spread terror.

“They are our own boys…They know the area and understand the tactics of the enemy,” Swain said, adding that they also know the local people and they taking them along can ensure their security. “They are not from outside Jammu and Kashmir, not even other districts of J&K, but are from the border tehsils only,” he added.
