JAMMU, JUNE 26: One militant has been killed on Wednesday during an encounter with a joint party of police and security forces in Doda district’s Gandoh area of Jammu and Kashmir.
Sources said that the encounter started when militants opened fire on police and security forces party conducting searches in the area. The latter retaliated, sources said, adding the exchange of fire was in progress.
Senior police officers too have reached the spot to supervised the operation against militants.
Though the police and security forces officials were yet to say anything about the encounter, sources said that the militants holed up in a house were three to four in numbers.
They are believed to be the same group which had attacked police and security forces at Kota Too area in Gandoh injuring an SPO on June 11.
The police had on Friday last claimed to have arrested three people – Safdhar, Mubashir and Sajjad, all residents of Tantna, Gandoh, for providing logistics to the militants involved in Kota Top attack on police and security forces.
