Third terror attack in Jammu province aince Sunday evening.

JAMMU, JUNE 12: in what may be called third terror attack in Jammu province within 72 hours, militants attacked a a joint temporary operating base of both the Jammu Kashmir Police and the Army in Dida district’s Chattergala area late Tuesday night.

Additional Director General of Police. Jammu, Anand Jain, said that the police and security forces Ed have retaliated and the encounter was in progress.

Meanwhile, initial reports suggest that two security personnel have been injured.

The attack in Chattergala came close on the heels of Jammu Kashmir Police having killed a militants during an encounter in Kathua district’s Saida village on Tuesday night.

The militants, believed to be two in numbers, ADGP said, had come to the village after having cross the international border in the district.

They entered a house and asked for water, he said, adding that news about their presence spread panic in the area.

After getting information about militants presence, police reached the village and engaged them. One of the militants tks tried to hurl a grenade, but he was neutralised by the police.

The second militant t, taking advantage of darkness, managed to escape. Jain said, adding that searches were going on in the area for him.

On Sunday, militants had attacked a bus killing nine people including seven pilgrims and injuring 38 others in Reasi district’s Pouni area.

The police had released sketch of one of the militants behind attack on pilgrims bus and announced a reward of Rs 20 lakh to anybody providing fruitful information about him.
