J&K Police confiscate properties of a narcotic smuggler in Bishnah

JAMMU, JUNE 3: The Jammu & Kashmir Police, in its continued action against drug peddlers across the Union Territory , on Monday confiscated the properties of a notorious narcotics smugglerChirag Attri @ Chetan S/O Late Ved Raj Attri of Chak Jaralan Bishnah tehsil of Jammu district.

Pointing out that the action was taken under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. as a part of its continued Operation “SANJEEVANI”, a police spokesperson said that Chetan has been a habitual offender and several cases NDPS Act are already registered against him. He was recently detained under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Dtgs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1988.

The three properties so attached include a piece of land under Khasra No. 345 at village Chak Jaralan, Bishnah, a commercial Pacca Hall having dimensions of 50’X27′ feet situated at village Chak Chua, Bishnah and a Swift Desire bearing registration No. JK02DE-6002.

The value of the confiscated properties is estimated to be about Rs two crore.

Police have urged people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood and warned that any person found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt strictly as per law.

This operation reaffirms the commitment of Police to combat the drug menace. Local people of the area hailed this initiative of J&K Police.
