JAMMU, MAY 27: Three people were injured in an abandoned mortar shell explosion on Monday evening at Kharamadana in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district.
According to Samba SSP Vinay Sharma, the exploded mortar shell was lying in a heap of garbage which had caught fire due to scorching heat.

Pointing out that the shell appeared to be an old rusted one abandoned in the area, he said that the injured have been hospitalised and their condition was stated to be out of danger.
However, investigations into the matter are in progress, he added.
