Two hurt in clash at Farooq Abdullah’s rally in Mendhar

MENDHAR, MAY 19: Two people were injured in an alleged clash between two rival groups on the sidelines of a National Conference rally attended by party president Dr Farooq Abdullah here on Sunday.

Sources said that one of the group members used a knife during the clash injuring two. The injured and the assailants had old enmity and they were already looking for each other.

The incident reportedly took place when Abdullah took to mike to address a nearly 7000 – 8000 crowd.

Identifying the injured as Yasir Ahmad (22), son of Mohd Shabir of Gultha Harni and Suhail Ahmad, son of Mohd Bashir of Qasab Mendhar, sources said that both have been hospitalized at Government Medical College, Rajouri.

The doctors at GMC Rajouri said that the condition of Yasir was critical.

The police have registered a case and are looking for the accused who managed to escape from the spot.
