Retired SSP arrested in Jammu under Official Secret Act for publishing copies of FIRs in a book

JAMMU, MAY 18: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday arrested a retired senior police officer in Jammu city under provisions of the Official Secret Act.

identifying the arrested person as Mohammad Aslam Sheikh, retired Senior Superintendent of Police, sources said that he had published copies of the police FIRs and other sensitive information belonging to police department in a book.

Hailing from Udhampur district, Aslam Sheikh was arrested by the police from Gandhi Nagar area where he was presently staying.

He was recruited into the police organisation in 1986 and he rose to the rank of SSP following out of turn promotions. He had retired as SSP from a Jammu Kashmir Armed Police Force Battalion few months ago, sources said, adding that further details are awaited.
