One held in Basantgarh militant attack

JAMMU, MAY 11: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday apprehended a person who had allegedly provided logistical support to militants who killed a Village Defence Guard in Basantgarh area of Udhampur district on April 28.

Identifying him as Javed, son of Mohammad Hussain of Loha Nathi in  Kathua district, police said that this is the first arrest made by it in this case so far. Further investigation into the case are in progress.

On the basis of inputs received from various quarters, police in Udhampur district have been able to make some sketches depicting the probable description of the some of the militants for sharing in the public domain so as to get specific information about them.

A member of the Village Defence Guard (VDG) was injured on April 28 when militants opened fire at a patrolling party in Basantgarh area of Udhampur district. The VDG was evacuated to hospital, but he later succumbed to injuries.
