Tremors measuring 4.3 on Richter scale hit Kargil

KARGIL, MAY 10: People rushed out of their houses as panic erupted following an earthquake, with an estimated intensity of 4.3 on the Richter scale, shook Kargil in the Union Territory of Ladakh at 7.22 am Friday.

However, there were no reports of casualties.

For the past some days, the Union Territory of Ladakh and also the adjoining UT of Jammu and Kashmir have been experiencing earthquakes.

On April 19 morning, tremors measuring 3.0 on Richter Scame shook Kargil and Leh in Ladakh.

Earlier on April 18 night, earthquake tremors were also felt in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar, measuring 4.0 on the Richter scale.

Later on May 1 this year, an earthquake measuring 3.4 on the Richter scale shook Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar during midnight, causing panic among the people.
