Three OGWs detained under PSA in Kishtwar

JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 18: The Jammu Kashmir Police in Kishtwar district  on Monday claimed to have detained three hardcore over ground workers of militants under the Public Safety Act.

Identifying them as Zahoor-Ul-Hassan alias Nikka Kamal of Kamal Mohalla, Touseef-Ul-Nabi of Jamia Masjid area and Raiz Ahmed of Sounder Dachhan, it said that these people, apart from motivating local youth join banned organisations, were also involved in various anti national activities registered at different police stations.

Due to their continued engagement in anti-national activities and role in motivating local youths to join banned organizations, the imposition of the PSA was deemed necessary, Kishtwar SSP Khalil Poswal said.  The police action is aimed at curbing anti-national activities and protecting the youth of Kishtwar from being lured into the banned organisations, he added.

He said that the police in Kishtwar district was pursuing a multi-pronged strategy to address the issue of anti-national elements. On one front, it was conducting awareness programs throughout the district, while on the other, strict actions was bring taken against anti-national and anti-social elements, ensuring the safety and well-being of the community, he added.
