Lieutenant Navteshwar Singh was less than three months old when his father Major Harminder Pal Singh died fighting militants in Baramulla in Jammu and Kashmir in April 1999 and was awarded the Shaurya Chakra posthumously.
Twenty-four-years later, Navteshwar was Saturday commissioned in his father’s battalion, the 18 Grenadiers, from Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai.
