Rohangiyas clash with police in Hiranagar holding center

JAMMU, JULY 18: Nearly half a dozen policemen were injured as Rohangiyas lodged at the Holding Center in Hiranagar town of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district, pelted stones at them on Tuesday morning.

Nearly a dozen Rohangiyas were also injured as police lobbed teargas shells to make them return to their barracks.

There are 270 Rohangiyas including women and children lodged at the Holding Center which earlier happened to be a sub jail. A sizeable number of them have been kept there since March 6, 2021.

Trouble erupted when Rohangiyas kept hostage some staff members of the Holding Center who had been opening the doors of the barracks in the morning.
