Infiltration bid foiled as 3 held with narcotics, arms, ammunition and explosives in Poonch

JAMMU, MAY 31: The Army troops and Jammu Kashmir Police in a joint operation during wee hours of Wednesday apprehended three terrorists and foiled a major bid to smuggle in hudge quantity of arms, ammunition, explosives and narcotics from across the Line of Control in Khari area of Poonch district.

Sources said that one of the capture infiltrator was hospitalized after he got injured in firing by troops.

The identity of the apprehended terrorists is being ascertained, but it is believed that they are locals who had crossed over to Pakistan to bring the consignment of arms, ammunition and narcotics into Jammu and Kashmir.

The seizures made from them include an AK 56 rifle, two pistols, five grenades, a 10 kg IED fabricated in a pressure cooker and 20 packets of heroin.

On being challenged by an Army party, they opened fire injuring a soldier, sources said.

The questioning of the apprehended infiltrators was in progress.
