One Mata Vaishnodevi pilgrim from Jaipur killed, 22 injured in bus accident near Katra

JAMMU, MAY 21: One Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrim was killed and 22 others injured on Sunday when their bus turned turtle on the road at Moori, 14 kms from Katra town in Jammu and Kashmir.

Identifying the deceased as Nitika, 27, a resident of Jaipur, Health Department officials said that her mother Sushila, 50, was injured. Other injured too hailed from Jaipur and of them, fifteen were brought to the hospital for treatment, they added.

They include Saroj, 50, and her daughters, Divya, Deepa Kumari and Mona; besides Divansh (30), Bhagwan Sai (44), Manoj Kumar (45), Sushila (50), Gunnu (14), Mona (30), Mayank (6), Kailash Kanamwat (38) and her son Rohan (6), besides Daksh (6) and Chanchal Singh (30). Five of them were referred to Government Medical College Hospital at Jammu.

According to police, the victims after having darshan at the Vaishno Devi shrine in Trikuta Hills had returned to Katra town, from where they had boarded a bus No. RJ14PD-4101 for Jammu. However, on a sharp turn near Moori police check post, the bus turned turtle, they added.
