The Kerala story: Final year MBBS student sustains head injury in group clash at GMC Hostel

JAMMU, MAY 15: A final year MBBS student at the Government Medical College, Jammu, sustained head injury during a clash over the controversial movie ‘The Kerala Story’ at their hostel here on Sunday night.

The incident occurred late Sunday night when a student shared a link to the movie on the study group of first-year students, which was objected to by one of his batchmates, stating that the group is meant for academic purposes only.

Both sides accused each other of initiating the fight.

The Government Medical College (GMC) administration has initiated action against several students after Sunday night’s clash over the controversial Hindi film ‘The Kerala Story’.

The principal of GMC said that disciplinary action has been initiated against the students who were found involved in yesterday’s clashes. An FIR has also been lodged with the police in respect to the involvement of outsiders, she added.

Meanwhile, Jammu SSP Chandan Kohli said that police have taken cognisance of the incident and started investigations.

The incident evoked sharp protests from senior politicians in Kashmir, with former chief ministers, Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, seeking intervention of the Lt Governor into the matter.
