J&K police seize grenades, ammunition from OGWs held for providing logistics to terrorists who attack Army truck in Poonch

JAMMU, MAY 7: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday claimed to have seized 

AK 47 ammunition, grenades among other things at the instance of two over ground workers (OGWs) arrested by police for allegedly providing logistics including food and shelter to terrorists who had attacked an Army truck killing five soldiers near Bhatta Durian in Poonch district on April 20.

The recoveries followed “sustained and professional questioning “ of Nisar Ahmed S/o Mohammad Shareef and Mushtaq Ahmed S/0 Mir Mohammad, both residents of Gursai Moori, a police statement issued here said.

Both are booked in FIR No. 42/2023 registered at Gursai Police Station under the provisions of sections 302,307,120 B ,121,122,436 IPC , 3/4 Explosive Substance Act, 7/25,26/27 Indian Arms Act, 16/18/20 UAPA.

From the house of Mushtaq Ahmed, police claimed to have recovered two Chinese grenades, on AK magazine along with 30 rounds, a hammer and a chisel which had been used for the construction of the hide and a packet of Pakistan made cigarettes.

From the house of Nisar Ahmed, it seized two Chinese grenades, 70 AK rounds and two AK magazines, besides Rs 19,000 in I dian currency.

From the hide, it seized two blankets, 24 rounds of AL rifle, a damaged magazine, one plastic sheet, two steel plates and glasses each, besides medicines, wrappers of dry fruits, chips, biscuits etc.

The investigations into the matter were in progress, it added.

Both were arrested following the questions of over 250 people in connection with the terror attack on Army truck near Bhatta Durian. The questioning of some suspects is still in progress, police sources said.

Significantly, the seizures came a a day after security forces killed a terrorist in Rajouri district’s Kandi forests who is suspected to be member of a group who killed seven civilians and injured 14 others in Dangri on January 1-2 this year.

Meanwhile, security forces and police continued their combing and search operation in Kandi forests in search of terrorists involved in attack of Army truck near Bhatta Durian area in Poonch district.
