Five OGWs booked under PSA in Ramban

JAMMU, OCTOBER 20: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday detained five over-ground workers (OGWs) of terrorists in Ramban district on Thursday under the provisions of the Public Safety Act.

Over-ground workers (OGWs) usually provide terrorists with logistical support, cash, shelter, and other infrastructure.

They have been identified as Nazir Ahmad Pala of Doligam, Banihal, Usman of Pogal Kunda Ramsu, Fardious Ahmad Khan of Krawa (at present, an old toll plaza in Banihal), Ab Hamid Khan of Tether, Banihal, and Anyatullah Wani of Gund Adalkoot in Banihal.

The arrests come two days after terrorists hurled a grenade at non-locals in Herman area of Shopian district killing two labourers from Uttar Pradesh.

The non-local laborers were identified as Manish Kumar and Ram Sagar. Both the victims are residents of the Kannauj district of Uttar Pradesh.

The resistance front (TRF) had claimed responsibility for the attack and two terrorists have been arrested. As many as five labourers were sleeping in a tin shed when a hand grenade was lobbed inside the tin shed.
